How To Join

There are two different ways of joining the New Zealand Federation of Dance Teachers.

Affiliate Members

Affiliate members are non-qualified members who elect to join the NZFDT in a non-voting capacity.

Affiliate members are included in branch discussion, and this is a great way to join the NZFDT before qualifying as a professional qualified dance teacher.

Affiliate members may be amateur or recreational dancers / individuals who are keen to belong to a society that represents dance and Dancesport development in their local area.

Dancers who are undertaking training via the NZFDT Assistant Teaching Program are joined to the NZFDT as affiliated members.

Qualified Members

These members who enjoy voting rights with the NZFDT are qualified professionals who have sat an examination in at least one of the disciplines of Ballroom, Latin, New Vogue, Classical Sequence, Freestyle, Salsa or Rock and Roll.

These members may hold the qualification of Associate, Licentiate or Fellow in their chosen or multiple styles.

If you are a qualified professional with another New Zealand or International Professional Society, you may ask to have your existing qualifications cross credited to the corresponding New Zealand Federation of Dance Teachers Qualification.

Professional Qualifications

NZFDT Professional qualifications are recognised both Nationally and Internationally for adjudication and coaching.

Applying for Qualifications

Applications for examination can be made by emailing the General Secretary contact@nzfdt.co.nz.

You will be sent an application form to complete.
